SuperClubs Hedonism III (Halloween hotness)
Just returned from our first trip to Hedo3 and would like to share our experiences at the resort. After last years trip to Desire Cancun which was less than stellar we were very apprehensive in doing another resort vaca, but it’s Hedo and this was a short (5 nights) trip for the Halloween holiday.
Arrival was no problems, probably the fastest we have EVER gone through customs in any country, and once there the superclubs check in desk was straight out the door just where it has always been. The drive to the resort ran us about an hour, which there was a wreck on the highway that slowed us down considerably. But going left instead of right out of the airport resulted in a much faster and very smooth ride, the way there was all highway and no cutting through the back alleys of towns like on the way to H2… no cows along the road… but I can see where it could happen.
When we showed up at the resort we arrived early and our room was not yet ready, no problem mon, we were sent over to the bar for an hour to eat and drink while waiting. Our greeter didn’t say Welcome home as usual, but out of the gate we definitely felt it.
The Room: We got one of the Jacuzzi suites, which was only a few dollars more than the normal suite at the time of booking and was slightly larger than the normal suites, on the ground floor you get your own front and back door. The room service was always awesome, with each day being a different towel figure on our bed. and everything was always organized for us, so much that we almost felt guilty for not pre-cleaning our room… well almost… The room was clean with tile floors and the AC worked very well, there was a LOT more space to work with for clothes and to get ready for events. The room was not extremely well lit for dressing after dark but was decent enough that we never went out looking like makeup had been applied in a locked closet.
When we were there the number of single men (Vinies) had dropped off significantly from previous trips, although still there it was not really a huge hassle. Most of the resort was comprised of couples this trip.
The beaches at H3 were a lot smaller than at H2, being man made, which we could tell. The wife is an avid water person and will run into the ocean at the drop of a hat, so she was missing the beaches from H2 a bit, BUT the pools at H3 were fabulous, and the addition of piers which extended out into the ocean for you to lay out on was a very nice addition. Also the quad pool at H3 was fabulous fun. The hot tub was a lot smaller than H2 and at times tended to be a bit more awkward to maneuver. But the ocean pool had a nice lay out and we did not have any issues with finding chairs or a spot to flop when we desired it.
H3 had dozens of very cool spots for little photo sessions as well. H2 also had some nice little areas but H3 seemed to have even more hidden here and there.
H3 was a lot more compact than H2, so you could get anywhere within two minutes, which meant that you needn’t miss out on anything, wanna know what’s going on you can see all of the areas relatively quickly. The down side to the smaller sized resort though is that activities seemed to migrate from spot to spot like at desire… after dinner it was the piano bar, then everyone left there and went to the disco.. where H2 seemed like there were enough people in every area to have a party going no matter what time it was.
The food was so so, we don’t go for the food BUT it was very repetitive, which I think H2 had a bit of an advantage on. But the restaurants were the same as H2, Japanese, scotch bonnet, pastafari, and seemed like the same general menu. Difficult to eat too healthy but it’s hedo food.
The workout facilities were a LOT smaller than H2, and there was an outside yoga area, but it was wet the entire time we were there. I know its Hedo, but the wife and I work out religiously so it was a bit of a downer.
The nude Vs prude side, at H2 the nude police always seemed to be in force, telling you to put on, or take off depending on which side you were on. At H3, the concept of Nude Vs prude seemed to be more just a kind of guideline, but not required. We saw clothing in the quad pool and hot tub area, we saw nudes walking around the basketball court, and the waterslide area was always nude nude nude… but no pressure.. we saw swimsuits on it as well.. it was really kinda nice to have the option though.
Bugs were not bad at all, we got a couple of bites from mosquitoes but not more than we would get in the back yard in the summer, did not even require the application of any repellent.
The bars: w00t! the bars were great, they had top shelf drinks to enjoy, while it was not always the same selection, there was a good selection and you can always find something to your liking, One night they even had Hennesy which I was loving! They have also added Red Stripe light on tap, and this may be my own personal quirk, but the dining room had splenda this time round, which made morning coffee so much more enjoyable. I always have to travel with my own supply… it was noticed
So having been to Desire, H2 several times. And now H3… would we go again! Absolutely! Hedo wins out over Desire hands down! But to the big H2 or H3 questions… Arrrgh this is difficult. Both have plusses and minuses, but they are minor. It really would come down to when booking the trip the mood we were in. H2 seems a little bit wilder while H3 seems a little bit classier, I guess. It will have to come down to what groups are there when we book our next trip. They are both exceptional value for the money spent, both are beautiful, both are sexy, both are NOT perfect!. If I won a free vacation to one of the two resorts but had to choose off the top of my head, spur of the moment, which one to go to I would say probably H3.
